Which New UK Companies Need AI Automation? A Targeting Guide for Agencies

Plenty of AI automation agencies pitch the same thing to everyone: a chatbot, an assistant, a promise to save hours. A founder hears that and can't picture what would change on Monday morning. Agencies that win AI automation agency clients tend to pick an industry, find the dull job it repeats every week and offer to automate that one job.

New companies are the easiest place to start. In Company Explore's registration data, 62,561 UK companies were incorporated in the 30 days to 18 October 2026, about 2,800 on an average weekday. Each of them is deciding right now how it will send invoices, answer enquiries and keep records, and none of them has old systems in the way.

This guide matches industries to automations, shows how many new companies register under each SIC code and explains how to qualify AI automation agency leads before you write a proposal.

Why new companies are easier to sell automation to

An established firm usually has a CRM someone set up years ago, a shared inbox with its own unwritten rules and a spreadsheet only one person understands. Before you can automate anything you have to map all of it, then win over the person who built it. Integration work eats the budget and projects stall.

A company registered last week has none of that history. The founder is choosing a bookkeeping package, an email provider and a booking tool for the first time, so you can build the automation into the setup. The job is smaller, the price can be lower and the client sees the result sooner.

There are two catches. New companies have little cash and no trading record, so pitch a small fixed-price first job and save the retainer conversation for later. Many founders also don't know yet which tasks will swallow their week, so your pitch has to name the task for them. That is why the industry matters more than anything else on your list. Our post on why new companies are the best leads covers the timing argument in more detail.

Start with industries that run on repeatable admin

The best targets have a task that happens many times a week, follows the same steps each time and currently depends on someone copying details from one place to another. Check for these signs:

    • Volume: dozens of enquiries, bookings, jobs or invoices a week, each handled the same way.
    • Structured inputs: forms, emails, PDFs or spreadsheets with the same fields every time.
    • A cost of delay: a lead goes cold, or a driver waits on paperwork before the next job.
    • A small team: no operations manager, so the founder does the admin in the evening.

An industry that passes all four gives you a pitch you can explain in one sentence.

Growth matters as much as volume. Over the 12 months to 18 October 2026, total incorporations fell by about 6%, yet management consultancy registrations rose 12% to 47,180, other transport support rose 15% to 6,319 and other social work rose 42% to 5,350. Recruitment went the other way, with both 78109 and 78200 down about 11%, though 749 new agencies a month is still plenty to work with.

Match one automation to each industry

Pitch one job per industry, and make it the job the founder already hates. A few notes on the strongest segments:

Management consultancy is the biggest code on the list, and also the messiest. A lot of 70229 registrations are one-person contractors who invoice a single client each month and will never have enough admin to automate. The ones worth your time have a website listing services and more than one director. For them, turning call notes into a proposal draft saves real hours, because every new client starts with one.

Property management firms live on maintenance requests. A tenant reports a leak by email, text or portal, someone logs it, decides how urgent it is, finds a contractor and updates the tenant. An automation that reads the request, sorts it and drafts both messages is easy to demonstrate, and 1,241 new firms registered under 68320 in a month.

Recruitment agencies process CVs and timesheets in volume from day one. Parsing CVs into a shortlist and chasing missing timesheets on Friday afternoon are both narrow, repeatable jobs. Candidate data is personal data, so build in deletion rules and tell the client where the data goes.

Accounting and bookkeeping practices spend the early months chasing clients for receipts and statements. Extraction plus automatic reminders is the obvious pitch.

Road freight and transport support companies run on paperwork: delivery notes, proof of delivery, customs documents, rate confirmations. Reading those documents into job records means invoices go out the day a job ends. Transport support (52290) includes freight forwarders, which handle even more documents per shipment.

For social work and care companies, the records can include health information, which is special category data under UK GDPR. Only take on that work if you can explain exactly where the data is processed and stored.

How to qualify AI automation agency leads

A list filtered by SIC code and date still contains companies that will never buy. Spend a minute on each before you contact it:

    • Status: contact active companies only, and skip any with a proposal to strike off.
    • Website: a live site with a contact form means enquiries are already arriving. A holding page means the company is too early for automation, though it may need a website first, as our guide to finding web design clients explains.
    • Other SIC codes: a company listing 70229 alongside 62020 (IT consultancy) is probably a contractor. Holding codes such as 70100 or 64209 mean there is no trading admin to automate. Our guide to SIC codes covers the common traps.
    • Directors: two or more directors usually means a business planning to grow. A director with other active companies in the same trade already has volume, and may want the same automation copied across.
    • Address: a trading address suggests a business further along than one using a formation agent's address, although both are normal in the first month.

A weekly routine for finding automation clients

    1. Pick two or three industries from the table where you can name the automation and have built something similar before.
    2. On Monday, pull last week's registrations for those codes and your regions in the B2B List Builder.
    3. Run an enriched export to add each company's published website, email and phone, plus scored suggestions for the director's LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram profile. Check any profile match yourself before you use it.
    4. Qualify each company against the checklist above and drop the ones that fail.
    5. Send a short first message that names the industry, the one task and a fixed price for a small first job.
    6. Log replies by SIC code and company age, then adjust next week's codes.

Keep your outreach lawful. Limited companies can usually be emailed at corporate addresses without prior consent under PECR, provided you identify yourself and offer an easy opt-out, while sole traders and some partnerships need consent first. The GDPR guide on this blog has the detail.

    Frequently asked questions

Which industries need AI automation most?

Industries that repeat the same admin many times a week: property management, recruitment, accounting and bookkeeping, road freight, freight forwarding and trades that quote for every job. Look for structured inputs such as forms and documents, and a small team with nobody employed to handle the admin.

Where can an AI automation agency find leads in the UK?

Newly registered companies are a good source because they have no legacy systems and are choosing their tools now. Filter Companies House data by SIC code, incorporation date and location, either on the Leads Dashboard or in the B2B List Builder.

What should an AI automation agency pitch to a new company?

One specific task the founder already does by hand, at a fixed price. "We'll turn your maintenance emails into logged jobs and tenant replies" is easier to say yes to than an offer to automate the business.

How many new companies register each month?

In the 30 days to 18 October 2026, 62,561 UK companies were incorporated, according to Company Explore's registration data. That is about 2,800 on an average weekday and around 600 on a weekend day.

To build your first list, open the B2B List Builder, choose one industry from the table above and set the incorporation date to the last 30 days.
